NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL RULES

  This page will give you a breakdown of the criteria & rules for nominations. The Siam Awards is the top National and International awards program dedicated to the very popular sport and activities of Thai martial arts, and of Thailand's National sport of Thai boxing.

The Siam Awards are given to persons who over the years have shown a strong dedication to the sport and other related areas of "Thai Boxing, Muay Thai, Muay Chao Chur, and Krabi Krabong,", be it through competitive prowess or by instructional edification.

The Siam Awards are also presented to persons from many different fields of promotion, publication and media for their relentless pursuit to expose the sport, it's heroes and its icons.

*Note: Nominees will only be accredited  one vote per nominator within the chosen categories listed, nominators processing multiple votes for the same nominee in the same category will be discarded.

** Note: There may be times that the board will ask for proof of certain nominations as example; the Siam Awards take Muay Thai Judging and Refereeing nominations very seriously, persons  nominated for this criteria should have some form of documentation, Official badge, Record Book, or other form of proof stating that they are approved  or registered Muay Thai Judges or Referee's. That the bouts they have officiated in are recognized "Thai Boxing, Muay Thai, Muay Chao Cherk or Krabi Krabong" events by an organization or a recognized sports association.

THE SAMAI MASAMARN AWARD

Presented to the most outstanding performance of the Ram Muay (ritual fighters dance of homage) by a U. S. fighter in both Amateur & Professional leagues. The award is named in honor of the late Grand Master, Samai Masamarn of the Buddhai Swan Institute of Swordsmanship, in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand.

Criteria for nomination are:

Must have followed the guidelines of the sport and have included all Muay Thai rituals.

1.) Must have performed in an official sanctioned event.

2.) Must have documented fight records.

3.) Must be registered and licensed fighter, Am or Pro.

4.) Must be able to tell who taught you the Ram Muay

5.) Written accolades, public support.

6.) Must have visual recordings of public performance.

THE NAI KHANOM D'TOM  Nak Muay of The Year Award

Presented to the top voted United States and International Muay Thai fighters in both the Amateur and Professional leagues, who have portrayed the best attributes required Muay Thai warrior, clean techniques, spectacular kicks and elbow strikes, well placed punches and knees, strong clinches and take-downs. A strong disposition and good stances, all the correct apparel, a warriors spirit, honesty and ring etiquette, including the desire to win. Named in honor of the most famous World recognized Thai fighter of all time, Nai Khanom D'tom, who fought and defeated 10 opponents in one day, over 400 years ago.

Criteria for nomination are:

Must have followed the guidelines of the sport and have included all Muay Thai rituals.

1.) Performed in an official   sanctioned event.

2.) Must have documented fight records.

3.) Must be registered/ licensed fighter either  Am or Pro.

4.) Must perform all fight rituals (Ram Muay,  Wai Kruu)

5.) Written accolades, public support.

THE ARJARN CHEN CHAI Instructor of The Year Award

Presented to U. S. and International Instructors who has promoted the art via instruction to students of Muay Thai Named in honor of the late Arjarn Chen Chai, who was one of the first Thai instructors to instruct in the United States of America

Criteria for nomination are:

Must be Muay Thai , (other Thai systems may be taken into consideration.) Must also follow the guidelines of the sport and have included all Muay Thai rituals.

1.) Amount of students instructed     

2.) Documented Champions produced

3.) Documented International Championship  via instruction

4.) National or International recognition as a  instructor

5.) Years of dedication to instruction          

6.) accolades, public support.

7.) Documentation proof (video/ photo) media   coverage

BEST PROMOTER OF THE YEAR AWARD (National & International)

THE ARJARN CHUA Promoter of The Year Award

Presented to the top U. S. and International promoters who have promoted the best Muay Thai events in the United States or in the international arena. Named in honor of the late Arjarn Chua, known as the 'father of modern Muay Thai'.

Criteria for nomination are:

Must be Muay Thai , (other systems may be taken into consideration.) Must also follow the guidelines of the sport and have included all Muay Thai rituals.

1.) How many events promoted            2.) How many Championship events

3.) How many International events      4.) Int'l. recognition as a promoter

5.) Safety aspects of the promotions     6.) State recognition of the events.

7.) Media exposure of events                8.)   accolades, public support.

ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YEAR AWARD (National & International)

APIDEJ SITHIRAN  The Achievement Award

Named in honor of Apidej Sithiran, ranked in the top ten all time champion fighters from Thailand. Is presented to the most outstanding achievers, who are nationally and Internationally recognized as promoting, coaching, training, instructing, writing, visual promotion for the sport of Muay Thai, and is presented once year.

Must have followed the guidelines of the sport and regulations of the National Association.

Presented to International Muay Thai practitioners, who have shown over the years their dedication to the sport and are nominated by public vote.

Criteria for nomination are:

Must be Muay Thai, (other Thai systems are taken into consideration.) Must also follow the guidelines of all Muay Thai rituals.

1.) Int'l. Instructor    2.) Int'l. Coach      3.) Int'l. trainer       

4.) Int'l. Fighter        5.) Int'l. Judge/ Referee.     6.) Int'l. Promoter

7.) Ram Muay

BEST JUDGE & REFEREE OF THE YEAR AWARD National & International

The SANGUON YUIN  Judge / Referee of The Year Award

Named in honor of the late Sanguon Yuin, Champion Thai Fighter, International Boxer and All Asian Thai Boxing Champion, is presented to the most outstanding performance by an official Judge / Referee who by public vote has officiated in the best manner of the sport in both Amateur & Professional leagues.

Must have followed the guidelines of the sport and regulations of the National Association.

Criteria for nomination are:

1.) Must have performed in official sanctioned events.  

2.) Must have documented & stamped officials records   book.

3.) Must be a registered and licensed Judge/Referee.

4.) Written accolades, public support.

5.) Must have visual recordings (video/photo) of public .performance.

BEST EAST COAST & WEST COAST FIGHTER  (U. S. ONLY)

Presented to the top nominated fighter "Nak Muay", on the East and the West coast of the USA. nominated fighters can come from any of the required weight divisions. The top East coast and West coast nominated fighter who has displayed all that is expected of a Muay Thai warrior, clean techniques, and spectacular kicks. Included with elbow strikes, well placed punches and knees, strong clinches and take-downs.  A strong disposition and good stances, all the correct apparel, a warriors spirit, honesty and ring etiquette, and a desire to win.'

Best West Coast'  The (Lot ) Award:  Named in honor of the late Nanfah Seheradecho, also known as Lot, who held the Bantam weight Championship belt for four years and a 1976 Thai Olympic contender.

Best East Coast'  The (Sot Chitlada) Award: Named in honor of Thailand's former WBC Champion and international Thai boxing Champion. 

Criteria for nomination for 'Best West Coast'  and  'Best East Coast'  are:

Must have followed the guidelines of the sport and regulations of the National Association and have included all Muay Thai rituals.

1.) Must have performed in an official sanctioned  event.

2.) Must have documented fight records.

3.) Must registered & licensed fighter in either Am. or Pro Leagues.

4.) Must have performed all fight rituals (Ram Muay Wai Kruu)

5.) Written accolades, public support.

LIFE-TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD  (National & International)

Presented to the winning nominee who throughout their life, has accomplished feats, achieved levels, or has represented the arts of Muay Thai, Thai Boxing, Muay Chao Chur, and the Thai weapons art of Krabi Krabong, without regard to personal benefit, who during their life has continued to promote the activities of the sports.

Criteria for nomination are :

1.) Amount of students instructed.  

2.)documented champions via .instruction.

3.) International recognition.        

4.) Amount of international champions via instruction.

5.) Years of dedication to the promotion of the art.

6.) Documentation (video/ photo) media coverage.

7.) Written accolades and popular media /public support

THE U. S. CORPORATE AWARD  (National  Division)

Presented to U. S. and International Corporations and Sponsors who have helped promote the art, sport, and the United States Teams for Muay Thai.

Criteria for nominations are:

1.) Events sponsored         2.) Sponsorship Funding       3.) Championship events

4.) International events.    5.) Media exposure of events

6.) Documentation proof (video/ photo)   media coverage.

THE MEDIA AWARDS (National & International Division)

Presented to media, reporters, photographers, publications, authors and editors. International Media Awards covering Muay Thai and have shown over the years, dedication to the art and sport, are nominated by public vote.

Criteria for nomination are:

Must be with the most truthful visual, oral, or pictorial display of Muay Thai, Thai Boxing, Muay Chao Chur, or the Thai weapons art of Krabi Krabong. with best description of the sport and competitors, including coverage of all Muay Thai rituals.

1.) Best Photograph           2.) Best Story/Article    

3.) Best Report/Review    4.) Best TV/Video coverage

THE ACTORS AWARD (National & International Division)

Presented to U.S. and International Actors and Actresses who have shown over the years their dedication to the sport by the promotion of the art (including Krabi-Krabong, Muay Thai, Muay Chao Chur, and Lerd Rit,) in movies, films and video, and are nominated by popular vote.

Categories are for:

1.) Best Actor    2.) Best Actress    3.) Best Film  

 4.) Best stunts     5.) Achievements

The award is presented to the winning nominees in appreciation for their generous efforts, courtesy, and help; who have given much of their time, and effort in promoting the activities of the sport, of their unselfish and relentless pursuit for the betterment of Muay Thai within their country or throughout the world.

Criteria for nomination are:

Must have shown or given support to the sport of Muay Thai in the United States. ( The International Appreciation Award) following same criteria.

1.) Most support given to the sport  

2.) Most Acknowledgment to the sport

3.) Most active role in support of the sport       

  4.) Most support given to National teams
